About us

Our mission[s]

EMBRACE THE CHANGE!  Open up your mind to new opportunities

Too often, people get stuck in a rut and feel they could be doing better.  Covid-19 lock-down has given us all time for reflection.  We are all about providing people new opportunities by helping them develop skills and realise their dreams.

We specialise in offering one-to-one coaching combined with online study.  Students progress at their own pace and have complete flexibility in where they can study from – home, office on the go!

Working with Fuze Ceremonies

Fuze Ceremonies is the only Celebrant business in the UK.  We are proud of our track record and we are growing fast.  We employ Celebrants, help fill their diaries and look after them with a comprehensive support package including CPD, marketing, website profiles, head office and so much more.

and the Fuze Foundation, ethical, socially conscious & not-for-profit.

In establishing the not-for-profit Fuze Foundation in 2012, we aim to tackle the growing epidemic of funeral poverty head on and have provided hundreds of free funeral ceremonies for financially stretched families.  We are fundraising to enable us to continue with this service.  The Foundation also offers not-for-profit Legal Humanist Marriages in Scotland and campaigns for equality, diversity and social justice.

Our purpose

UKCAPSA (UK Celebrant and Professional Skills Academy) was established in 2019 with the express purpose of providing high quality, accredited courses that help people find fulfilling roles or enhance their lives.  We’re passionate about providing different training opportunities.

We started by tackling Celebrant training – sadly there are several organisations offering very limited, unaccredited, Celebrant training and charging a healthy price.  We felt that people were being short changed.  We offer a recognised Celebrant Diploma and deliver this to the highest standards with an experienced team of professionals … and then we offer people the opportunity to join our exceptionally successful sister company, Fuze Ceremonies.

What we do

We train Celebrants (Officiants) to deliver engaging, entertaining and personality packed Ceremonies that reflect our clients’ individuality and tell their tale.  From our next door neighbours to celebrities and professional athletes, we have conducted ceremonies from every corner of society and we love it!

Now we are offering new training opportunities.  We have several courses in the pipeline aimed at the care sector as well as some great fun courses like Comedy!

How we do it

UKCAPSA HQ is based in Scotland; however, our fabulous training team spans the length and breadth of the UK and is soon to go global!  The team are chosen for their professional background, creativity, energy, personality and their genuine love of life.  Each and every member of the training team is an expert in their field.  Meticulous attention to detail, innovative ideas and a friendly manner are some of the reasons we are leading from the front.

Morag & Anne

Off to a flying start with SQA Centre accreditation and Celebrant Diploma recognition

Fuze Ceremonies was established back in 2011 by founder, Anne Widdop.  The training Academy is a natural extension of the business and is the result of the experience, knowledge and passion of both Anne and fellow Director Morag Webster.  Since then Anne and Morag have worked their socks off, setting the bar on how Celebrants should be trained and managed and how Ceremonies should be scripted and conducted.  They bring much needed professionalism and industry standards to an unregulated market place.

In 2019 they were awarded a much coveted SQA Centre approval and the Diploma was given internationally recognised accreditation.

They have recognised that there is a gap in training people in the care sector about death, dying and want to offer more support and training in this area.

The first graduates from the Academy completed in 2019 and some have since joined Fuze Ceremonies.

5* reviews, going strong and innovating!

Since launching in April 2019, UKCAPSA have trained hundreds of people.  Every Trust Pilot review is 5* and the Academy continues to develop into new areas.

"I am so glad I took the plunge and did this course, to do a job that is enjoyable and exciting and no two days are ever the same. The course was intense but the support and encouragement I got from my mentors really helped me through it. I would definitely recommend it especially if you’re looking for a change in career, a career that’s rewarding. I’ve learned and gained new skills I never knew I had."

"The course is easy to understand & follow. Its very comprehensive & once completed you are in a good position to commence celebrancy work. You do have to be committed time wise but its not difficult. I learnt things about funerals I didn't know & now understand the origins of wedding symbolic gestures. So informative, writing to do, films to watch & research into topics. A great course!!"
